Paint It Black Mastiffs "France" Philippe Carnus
How Long have you been involved with Mastiffs? I had my first Mastiff in 1991, it was called off Clip the Little big man “Cougar” and I began the breeding with my wife in 1998, we bought Neither seen nor known off to the Little big man “Sweet” a female not very large but very powerful and Elthon the son of the Italian champion Bulliff Yrke Yttermoen, sweet and Elthon are at the base of all the mastiffs Paint it Black…

What attracted you to the Mastiff breed? Whole, the mastiff it is most beautiful J this dog is splendid, as I like to say it is the dog capital letter!

Can you describe your idea of the correct temperament? For me the correct temperament for a mastiff it is the quiet force, but especially not timorous!!!
What improvements have you seen in the breed during your involvement? I acknowledge that in France I did not see improvement much, and same sometimes, has my taste, a deterioration of qualities, it seems to me that the mastiffs more massive and was typified more in the Nineties…

What do you see lacking in the breed today? I find that the mastiffs are very eterogenes and lack of power and type, one wanted them to have larger with the detriment of the substence, but it is only my opinion…

Would you share some of your favorite Mastiffs of your breedings over the years? I did not produce much litter, but I was likely to produce Suzy which was champion of Norway in my friend Kaare Konradsen, Tequila and her brother Sabian which is champions of Holland in my friends Marc de Wolf & Petra Oosterom

Would you list a few of your ideal Mastiffs past/present not owned or bred by you? my mastiffs ideal are:
Medicine man, Curran V.D Duncanhoff Chatmo v.d Freezing Wrinckles Greiner Falcon Hall, Nicholas, Egan and Brutus Uberarcht off Namous Khoo-Khoo Khan el St Patrick Malcom, Pistol, Bubba and Ivory Carlomagno Del Fracasso Horus off the little big man Arciniega' s Lion off Bredwardine Bulliff Yrke Yttermoen Bulliff Char-Cole Bredwardine Brongest

Would you list the priorities in your breeding program in order of importance (type, temperament, pedigree, health, structure, championships) my priorities go in first to the Type and with the structure then with the temperament and health and to finish the pedigree imports me much, I like much to work on the descendants of medicine man and Bulliffs.

Do you feel that the majority of AKC judges have a clear understanding of our breed standard? I do not know them well judges AKC but according to the photographs it is a little as in Europe, I always does not include/understand their judgment, On our premises there are people to think that Mastiff must have an air step with the detriment of the substance, me I consider that it must have a step and a powerful physique!!!
What are your goals for the future of your breeding program?
My goal for the future are to marry my lines with the lines American which I prefer, a little as the marriage that I made a few years ago Between my female Simplyy (very marked Bulliff) and Fantastic Curran (very Greiner Hall) and also To add a pinch of Bredwardine (one would say a receipt of kitchen J) Who has influenced you in your breeding program? I have an enormous admiration for the work of Mr. & Mrs Say of the Bulliff breeding and for Stephen and Leah Napotnick of the breeding Greiner Hall

What has been your greatest accomplishment so far? My greater achievement up to now it is the Marriage of Simplyy and Curran it is the most homogeneous litter and of quality that I had…
What is the most important advise you can give to new breeders?
A advise? never not to forget why one was allured by the mastiff (for my part it is because it is the excessive dog), and by pity not to make a mastiff light, not half measures power of the type, bone and muscle it will be never too!!!
